
A man aged in his 70s from Lake Macquarie was the state's single COVID-19 death announced Thursday, as the Hunter New England health district recorded another 13 cases.
NSW Health's Dr Marianne Gale said the man died in Gosford Hospital. He had received two doses of a vaccine, and had "significant underlying health conditions".
The Hunter New England Health district has recorded 13 new cases of COVID-19. Seven of the new cases were detected in MidCoast, two each were from Lake Macquarie and Newcastle and there was one apiece in Maitland and Dungog.
Ten of the new cases were infectious in the community, and ten have also been linked. There are 190 total active cases in the district, none of which are in hospital.

The Lake Macquarie cases were found in Bonnells Bay and Cardiff, while Newcastle's were recorded in Mayfield and Wallsend. The Dungog case is from Martins Creek and in Maitland, the case was found in Bolwarra Heights.
There have been high levels of COVID-19 viral fragments in the Inverell sewage catchment, where there have been no recent known cases.
It comes as NSW records 420 new COVID cases in a second consecutive day of 400-plus infections on Thursday.
Currently, 151 people are in hospital with the virus in NSW and 25 of those require intensive care.
