Lake Macquarie court date for cop accused of Hunter neighbour assaults

A POLICE officer facing charges over alleged assaults committed while off duty will face a Lake Macquarie court in December.

NSW Police on Wednesday confirmed they had charged the officer after an investigation that began in February, and that the man's employment status is under review.

The allegations against the 39-year-old detective senior constable stem from an alleged physical altercation between neighbours, and another alleged incident between the officer and a neighbour's son in December last year.

Police said the officer, who is attached to the Northern Region, was given a future court attendance notice for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of common assault.

Following extensive investigations, the 39-year-old detective senior constable - who is attached to Northern Region - was served a Future Court Attendance Notice yesterday (Tuesday 20 October 2020), for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of common assault.

He is due to face Toronto Local Court on December 1.
