April 04--Lake County has revamped its website to make it more accessible on smartphones and tablets.
The redesigned site also includes new features, including a "Report a Concern" section, according to a news release from the county.
"Our website provides the thousands of people who visit it with an important first impression about Lake County government," Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor said in the release. "We want to make sure that www.lakecountyil.gov demonstrates our core values to residents and taxpayers -- efficiency, customer service, transparency and fiscal responsibility. I encourage people to visit our new site today to learn about the new tools they have at their fingertips."
According to the release, the county's site gets about 150,000 annual searches. The most common searches are about health, jobs, property taxes or for maps and forms.
"Our users said clutter was the biggest problem with our old site," Lake County communications manager Jennie Vana said in the release. "The challenge is that people don't know what department provides a particular service, so we made it simple for them to find what they're looking for with a prominent search bar, mega-menu navigation, clickable buttons, and content that is organized with headers and bullets so it's easier to read and digest,"
