Lake council moves to fast-track BMX facility at Redhead

ALL AGES: A track similar to what the council has proposed for Redhead.

REDHEAD has emerged as the frontrunner for a new BMX track with Lake Macquarie council seeking feedback on three potential sites.

Liles Oval, Webb Park and Molly O'Connor Park have been slated as capable of accommodating the small all-weather asphalt track.

The project was listed in the Charlestown Contributions Plan for either Charlestown or Redhead, but a review of the 2015 document has identified an opportunity to fast-track the facility in the beachside suburb.

"Council has been planning over a number of years for future BMX facilities at three locations in the Charlestown catchment, including Croudace Bay, Hillsborough and Charlestown/Redhead," assets manager Brendan Callander said.

"We're seeking the community's feedback on whether there is a broader need for a facility and which [Redhead] location is right."

Feedback can be provided on the Shape Lake Mac website.

The council will hold info sessions at Webb Park on Saturday between 10am and midday, and on Thursday, December 17, between 3.30pm and 5pm.
