Laila Rouass confirms Holby City exit as final scenes air next week

Laila Rouass has confirmed that she will be leaving Holby City as her final scenes as Sahira Shah are set to air next week.

The 49-year-old actress revealed the news on Loose Women amid her current storyline with her on-screen dad Reyhan Shah's suspicious death.

Reyhan suffered a cardiac arrest, but Sahira has been informed that the hospital are investigating it due to inconsistencies.

Laila said: "My father’s just had a cardiac arrest but they suspect that all is not what it seems, that his death is actually suspicious, and that’s where it’s left this week.

"Next week we find out if it was suspicious circumstances and if it is, who did it, and it’s actually – can I tell you my news? It’s my last week on Holby next week!"

Lina Robson, who was a panelist on the ITV daytime show today, probed: "Can we just ask – is it because you’re going to prison for murdering him?

Laughing, Laila said: "I can't say! Trust you, Linda!"

The actress first appeared in Holby City back in 2011, but left just a year later before returning this year in February.

Her character Sahira has been involved in a dark storyline after Henrik Hanssen revealed that he was abused by her father as a child.

It later emerged that Sahira's son Abs was also a victim of Reyhan's.

However, neither managed to get justice after Reyhan died suddenly...

This comes ahead of EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami's appearance in Holby City following character Kush Kazemi's death earlier this month.

He is joining as Holby's new Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon Eli Ebrahim, which Davood has said he is "absolutely thrilled" about.

Davood said: "Holby City is renowned for its quality storytelling and I’m excited for the audience to meet Eli and watch the drama that unfolds on his arrival!"

*Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV
