Lagan College pupils sent home after electricity fault

A Belfast school has urged parents to collect their children if possible after an electricity fault has left the premises with limited toilet and hot food facilities.

Lagan College issued an urgent note to parents on Tuesday morning following the fault.

The school has asked parents to collect pupils if possible or give their children permission to make their own way home.

In an email to parents, the school said: "Due to an electrical fault, we have extremely limited toilet facilities and no canteen facilities for hot food for lunch.

"As a result we need parents, were possible, to collect their children from school. Alternatively, parents can text their child with permission to make their own way home.

"Any student who cannot be collected or make their own way home will be supervised in school."
