Lady Leshurr left Dancing On Ice fans in tears as she shared late sister's tragic cancer secret

Dancing On Ice fans were in tears as Lady Leshurr opened up on Dancing On Ice about losing her late sister to breast cancer.

The 32-year-old rapper paid a moving tribute to Carmen, who died in January 2019 aged just 39.

She revealed on the ITV celeb skating contest that her sister hadn't told anyone that she had cancer before she passed away.

Heartbreakingly Carmen's husband had also died from cancer leaving their eight children orphaned.

After the tragedy Lady Leshurr's mum Carol took the children in.

For her second skate, Lady Leshurr chose the powerful Alesha Keys song No One in Carmen's honour.

And following her performance Lady Leshurr said: "I hope I did my sister proud."

Head judge Christopher Dean was in tears as he gave his comments.

"It was the simplicity of the skate that made it so powerful," he said. "Hearing everything that happened, I feel for you."

Lady Leshurr, whose real name is Melesha Katrina O’Garro, was by her sister's side when she died.

in January the songwriter shared a picture on Instagram of the siblings together as children to mark Carmen's birthday.

"Her name will forever live on," she said.

Viewers rushed to praise the brave performance.

"Watching DOI and cried my way through the skate Lady Leshurr dedicated to her sister who died from cancer," said one.

"Lady Leshurr you are awesome your sister will be looking down at you and smiling, you have done her proud," tweeted another.

"So much love to Lady Leshurr and her sister and all of her family.

"That is so tough to keep a big illness to yourself," another commented.

"Not only that Lady Leshurr losing her sister and the kids losing both parents. That is so tough to deal with."

Lady Leshurr was later sent home after a dramatic skate-off with Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson after making it all the way to the semi-final.

One fan commented: "Devastated to see them leave at this crucial moment, but if there's any consolation to take from this, they did score the first 10s and the first perfect 40 of the series tonight."
