Lady Gaga, who was one of more than 250,000 California residents forced to evacuate as the Woolsey fire continues, took time to visit a Red Cross shelter on Sunday.
In a video obtained by TMZ, Gaga offered a few words of hope to the displaced group at Pacific Palisades High School. “I extend my love to each and every one of you. I know we do not know each other, but I love you,” she said. “This is an emergency, but you are not alone. And we have each other.”
She also encouraged those present to seek out the help of mental health counsellors on the premises. She added: “Let’s keep the faith together. It is so important that you take care of what’s going on in your head and in your heart.”
Gaga reportedly stayed for approximately 90 minutes at the shelter, where she took photos, handed out gift cards, and sang to a 98-year-old woman who had been evacuated.
The musician was evacuated from her home last week. At the time she tweeted: “I am thinking so deeply for everyone who is suffering today from these abominable fires & grieving the loss of their homes or loved ones. I’m sitting here with many of you wondering if my home will burst into flames. All we can do is pray together & for each other. God Bless You.”
She also criticised Donald Trump's response to the wildfires, writing: "I knew this before, but you continue to make it clear you care for no one other than yourself. Mr. President, show some compassion for the people of California and set an example of kindness for this country."
