Lady Gaga shreds Trump over government shutdown and Pence over LGBT rights during Las Vegas show

Lady Gaga paused her rendition of “Million Reasons” at her Las Vegas residency show to call out both Donald Trump and Mike Pence

The musician paused mid-song during her show on Saturday, 19 January to say: “If the f***ing president of the United States could please put our government back... there are people who live paycheck to paycheck and need their money.”

She then mentioned Pence, whose wife Karen is resuming her position at Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, Virginia, which refuses admission to LGBT+ students, students with LGBT+ parents, or to anyone who they believe condones “sexual immorality, homosexual activity or bisexual activity.”

“And to Mike Pence, who thinks it’s acceptable that his wife works at a school that bans LGBTQ: you’re wrong,” Gaga continued. “You say we should not discriminate against Christianity. You are the worst representation of what it means to be a Christian.”

“I am a Christian woman, and what I do know about Christianity is that we bear no prejudice and everybody is welcome. So you can take all that disgrace, Mr. Pence, and you can look yourself in the mirror and you’ll find it right there.”

Gaga has split her Vegas run in two halves, Enigma – a fully-fledged pop show – and Jazz & Piano that features stripped-down versions of Gaga’s hits, lesser-known songs and classics from the American songbook.
