The robbers who stole Lady Gaga 's dogs in February were not aware they belonged to the singer.
Los Angeles police confirmed that the suspects accused of taking the Alejandro singer's bulldogs and shooting her dog walker didn't know of the connection.
Jaylin White, James Jackson and Lafayette Whaley were arrested last week on suspicion of the robbery and attempted murder.
According to the felony complaint filed by prosecutors in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by The Associated Press, the three suspects were specifically "looking for French bulldogs" in the West Hollywood and San Fernando Valley area when the incident occurred on February 24.
French Bulldogs are seen as a lucrative commodity and can sell for thousands of pounds.
They reportedly spotted Lady Gaga's dog walker, Ryan Fischer, and followed him as he walked the dogs, Asia, Koji and Gustav along Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors wrote that Jackson and White jumped out and attacked the dog walker before taking Koji and Gustav.
The third dog, Miss Asia, who managed to escape the scene, was later recovered by police.
The struggle was captured on the doorbell camera of a home close to the incident.
They struck and choked Fischer, prosecutors claimed, and Jackson pulled out a semiautomatic gun and fired, striking Fischer once before they fled.
The camera recorded Fischer yelling out: “Oh, my God! I’ve been shot!” and “Help me!” and “I’m bleeding out from my chest!”
After being shot four times in the chest, Fischer spent several weeks in hospital recovering.
Over the next 48 hours, White's father, Harold White, and Jennifer McBride (who was in a relationship with the father) became involved, prosecutors wrote.
They apparently helped the son avoid arrest, with McBride returning the dogs to the police on February 26.
