Lady Gaga reveals her next album is called 'Adele' and fans do not know how to react

Lady Gaga has said her next album is going to be called Adele – the day after rumours of an Adele, Beyonce, Chris Martin and OneRepublic collaboration were quashed.

The popstar, 33, appeared to announce the title of her sixth album on Twitter yesterday and obviously, fans soon pointed out that the moniker belongs to the British singer too.

Writing on Twitter, Gaga said: “I’m calling my next album ADELE.”

It's unclear whether the singer is telling the truth or joking around.

Collaboration?: The pair previously sparked rumours they would be working together (@LadyGaga)

But while we wait to find out if she'll follow through on the promise, fans have been sharing funny posts on Twitter:

A slightly harsher take read: “Last album flopped so maybe if she confuses people in to thinking it’s Adele this one won’t. Genius.”

Another added: “Using Adele’s name for clout so ur song debuts top 50. Good promo I guess.”

Several responded with memes of Adele looking confused or crying and mock ups of what the album could look like.

Others said they were delighted with the album name and claimed it could mean the two stars are planning to collaborate.

One fan wrote on Twitter, “Heaven,” and another said: “Girl an Adele collab” with a photograph of Oprah.

Gaga's most recent album – Joanne – received generally positive reviews and was dubbed “rootsy country, blues and soul” by critics.

Adele and Lady Gaga sparked rumours they were collaborating in 2015 after posting a photograph of themselves together on Instagram.
