Lady Gaga has revealed that she was moved to tears when she discovered that she had landed two Oscars nominations.
The 32-year-old singer explained that she overslept yesterday morning, completely missing the news that she had been nominated for the Best Leading Actress gong for her role as Ally in A Star Is Born.
She told the New York Times: “I’ve been trying to get some sleep because I’m on showbiz time. I woke up around 8:30 and I didn’t know anything about it.”
Gaga then revealed her manager filled in on the details and she “just burst into tears.”
The actress also bagged a nomination for Best Song with Shallow from the same film.
Speaking about the double nomination, Gaga added: “To be recognized as the lead actress and a musician at the same time. I can’t tell you what that means to me.”
Although Gaga secured two nods ahead of this year’s Academy Awards, her A Star is Born co-star Bradley Cooper did not receive a nomination in the Best Director category.
The Hollywood star made his directing debut with the remake, which he also co-wrote.
Whilst he is nominated for the Best Actor award and for the film itself for Best Picture, there was shock on Tuesday after he failed to bag a directing nomination, having previously racked up similar nods on the awards season circuit.
The 91st Academy Awards will take place at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Sunday, February 24.
