Lady Gaga and Elton John among A-listers to play 'stay at home' benefit concert

Some of the biggest names in music are set to join forces next weekend in a stay-at-home concert for frontline workers around the world fighting against Covid-19.

Billie Elish, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga are among the big names coming together for for the One World: Together At Home on April 18th.

The broadcast, which will be hosted by US talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert, will bring the A-list celebrities together "to celebrate the heroic efforts of community health workers".

Other music starts to perform include Lizzo, Alanis Morrissette, Stevie Wonder and John Legend to name a few.

Others include Andrea Bocelli, Billie Joe Armstrong, Burna Boy, Chris Martin, Idris and Sabrina Elba, David Beckham, Eddie Vedder, Finneas, J Balvin, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Kerry Washington, Lang Lang, Maluma, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Shah Rukh Khan.

The concert will be live across US television networks ABC, CBS and NBC, as well as being streamed online, at 8pm EST, while broadcast will be adapted for BBC One a day later.

Powered by commitments from supporters and corporate partners in benefit of the Covid-19 Solidarty Response Fund, the special to also benefit local and regional charities that provide food, shelter and healthcare to those that need help most.

The global special will also feature real experiences from doctors, nurses and families around the world.

Lady Gaga took to social media with some words of her own - she's been doing fundraising work for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

She said: "It continues to blow my mind to watch the triumphant bravery of healthcare professionals and others working tirelessly to do their part.

"The Solidarity Response Fund allows the WHO to continue to track and understand the spread of the virus, to ensure patients get the care they need and and frontline workers get essential supplies and information, and helps accelerate efforts to develop vaccines, tests, and treatments."

Dropping the news of the concert, Lady Gaga told the aim is to "celebrate and and highlight the singular kind global community and celebrate the power of the human spirit."

The concert will air on BBC One on Sunday 19th April.
