Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper ‘crossed a line’ with Oscars duet, says Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan did little to dispel speculation over Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s relationship as he accused the singer of ‘crossing a line’ during their duet at the Academy Awards.

The pair performed Shallow from A Star is Born in which they play Jackson Maine and Ally – two musicians who fall in love.

Viewers praised their “beautiful” relationship and argued their “chemistry was undeniable” as they sat next to one another while Gaga played the piano on stage at the Dolby Theatre.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain live in Los Angeles, Morgan asked: “What’s going on there?”

Referencing Gaga’s recent split from fiancé Christian Carino, he continued: “It was the look of love. If you put the maths together you have her taking the engagement ring off and then staring at Bradley Cooper in a way I would say crosses a few lines.”

Spice Girl Mel B who was a guest on the special broadcast said she was left feeling “uncomfortable” for Cooper’s girlfriend Irina Shayk who he shares one-year-old daughter Lea with.

“There’s a woman’s code,” she said. “Hopefully it’s only professional this.”

Morgan's remarks came hours after he questioned their friendship, tweeting: “Are we 100% certain these two are just good friends... ?”

Fans of Gaga accused Shayk of being “jealous” as she was sat in between Gaga and Cooper throughout the ceremony, while others said they wouldn't blame her if she was overcome with a case of the green-eyed monster.

Gaga and Cooper missed out on the Best Actress and Actor gongs to Olivia Colman and Rami Malek as well as Best Picture to Green Book. But A Star Is Born didn’t go home empty handed after winning Best Original Song for Shallow.

Gaga gave an impassioned acceptance speech, telling the audience: “I love you mum and dad, Bradley. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you so much.

“This is hard work, I’ve worked hard at this for a long time… If you have a dream, fight for it.”
