'Lady and the Tramp' mum who left husband for a homeless man dies suddenly

A mum who left her husband for a homeless man, dubbing their relationship "Lady and the Tramp", has died suddenly.

Louise Morecombe, 37, met homeless Stuart Jonas, 41, when he was living rough on the third floor of a Debenhams car park.

The mum-of-four had set up the group 'Swindon Homeless Volunteers' to help support the town's rough sleepers and met Stuart through her charity work in 2017.

The pair quickly fell in love with Louise leaving her husband and helping Stuart to get off the street in Swindon, Wiltshire.

They were engaged to be married before Louise passed away on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to a property in Redhouse, Swindon, on Friday morning following reports a woman in her 30s had died suddenly.

Paying tribute to his late fiancee, Stuart said: "She was such a beautiful, bright person, such a caring and giving person.

"How could I not fall in love with her? We fell in love and became a couple.

"Lou got me off the streets. I was homeless, living in a car park with no hope. I was lost.

"Lou and the group that she founded found me, helped me, supported me, took me off the streets.

"She saved so many people. She helped so many people off the streets.

"She was just a beautiful person. I'm going to miss her. I don't know what I'm going to do without her. I'm lost."

Wiltshire Police said the circumstances of Louise's death were not suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner.
