Ladies Day revellers join together for mass singalong of Angels at Newcastle Racecourse

The weather might have been the exact opposite of a boiling hit Plate Day a month earlier but the damp conditions did little to dampen the spirits of those at Ladies Day at the weekend.

While the frequent torrential bursts of rain that were forecast didn't quite materialise, the weather was far from glorious at Newcastle Racecourse for Ladies Day , which is one of the biggest events in its diary and in the city's social calendar.

Those who arrived early sheltered from the rain as they wanted to protect their expensive outfits, but thankfully it was more drizzle than downpours on Saturday.

Ladies Day always ends up being a raucous occasion, and as you can see from the video above, plenty of people were happy to burst into song, as well as having a flutter at the weekend.

As the strains of Robbie Williams' Angels sounded out, there were plenty of takers to join in.

And there were similar scenes back in town at Stack Newcastle when the city centre hotspot hosted its second Kroud Karoke night.
