The first spectators have already started to arrive at the course and, despite the bad weather, are looking as glamorous as ever.

Follow all the action from the day - pictures, outfit, race results - on our dedicated Ladies Day live blog.

Ladies Day at Aintree tips

3.25pm JLT Chase (registered at the Melling Chase)

POLITOLOGUE can land a second succesive victory in the Grade One JLT Melling Chase (3.25pm), the feature race on Ladies Day at the 2019 Randox Health Grand National Festival.

Politologue will bid to become the first dual winner of the Melling Chase since Voy Por Ustedes in 2008-09.

And judged on the way he gave the record-equalling Altior a real race in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival he looks a very solid favourite to bring up the double at Aintree Racecourse.

The Paul Nicholls-trained eight-year-old has not won since his seasonal return at Ascot back in November.

But he has slowly been building up throughout the season and that run behind Altior points at him reaching his peak for the campaign heading back to Aintree.

He probably hasn’t won as much as he could have, but he battled superbly to grab last year’s Melling Chase, beating Willie Mullins’ Min by a neck.

Min will take him on again having been fifth in the Champion Chase but on recent evidence he shouldn’t be able to turn the tables on his rival.

Politologue should have enough with Ruth Jefferson’s Waiting Patiently maybe throwing down the main challenge.

2.50pm Betway Mildmay Novices' Chase

RSA Chase hero TOPOFTHEGAME can make it a great afternoon on Merseyside for trainer Nicholls to bring up a Grade One double with victory in the Betway Mildmay Novices’ Chase (2.50pm).

It was the seven-year-old’s first win over fences at last month’s Cheltenham Festival, but he has run well finishing second in both his other two starts over the bigger obstacles before.

He looks to be improving and could be a leading Gold Cup contender next season.

First, though, he can land the staying chase double for novices at Aintree.

4.05pm Randox Health Topham Handicap Chase

It is the second race over the Grand National fences of the meeting, the Randox Health Topham Handicap Chase (4.05pm) and BIGMARTRE looks to hold a decent each-way chance.

This year's Topham Chase, looks as competitive as ever and as with the National itself it could be worth backing a couple in the race to avoid disappointment if the big fences prove too much.

Harry Whittington's eight-year-old has not won since scoring at Ayr this time last year.

He was 12h in Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last time, but is better than that.

If he takes to the big fences, they could just spark him back to life from a handicap mark 7lb lower than for that last win,

Trainer Nicky Henderson has won the Topham a record five times and three of those have come in the past five seasons. He has a couple with good chances in Janika and O O Seven.

Janika is a worthy favourite but he keeps going up in the handicap for finishing second. He carries top weight in the Topham and although he should run another good race, he may have to settle for a place again.

Others of each-way interest the Ross O’Sullivan-trained Call It Magic, who should also go close.

2.20pm Betway Top Novices' Hurdle

Olly Murphy’s ITCHY FEET ran a fine race to be third in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham last month and can go a couple of places better n the Grade One Betway Top Novices’ Hurdle (2.20pm).

He made a mistake at the last that cost him any chance of victory but he is still learning. He had jumped well throughout before that and with the likely improvement from that run the five-year-old can grab Grade One glory at Aintree.

4.40pm Doom Bar Sefton Novices' Hurdle

LISNAGAR OSCAR can win the Grade One Doom Bar Sefton Novices’ Hurdle (4.40pm).

Rebecca Curtis’s six-year-old finished fifth in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle, slightly checking the progress shown earlier in the season.

He looks a chaser in the making and had won at Chepstow and in a Grade Two at Haydock Park in February.

He ran well enough at Cheltenham but the flatter track at Aintree will help him get home better than he did at Prestbury Park.

He can repel the challenge of Champ – named after Sir Tony McCoy – who is stepping up in trip after finishing second at Cheltenham last time.

1.45pm Merseyrail Handicap Hurdle

JOKE DANCER can win the opener of the second day at Aintree, the Merseyrail Handicap Hurdle (1.45pm).

Trainer Sue Smith and jockey Danny Cook will be eyeing glory with Vintage Clouds in the Randox Health Grand National on Saturday.

And they may get a boost 24 hours before the big race in the opener on Ladies Day.

Joke Dancer won at Newcastle but was a bit disappointing at Kelso last time. But he looks more than capable of making the frame in the competitive 2m4f contest and could come out on top.

Paul Nicholls' Brio Conti - fourth in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival - should also be in at the finish

5.15pm Weatherbys Racing Bank Standard Open NHF Race

SANTA ROSSA can take the finale, the Grade Two Weatherbys Racing Bank Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race (5.15pm).

The Irish raider has won both his starts so far and the five-year-old can bring up the hat-trick
