LACMA curator emeritus lists modern home for lease in Hollywood Hills West

March 02--The artful modern home of Los Angeles County Museum of Art curator emeritus Maurice Tuchman is up for lease in Hollywood Hills West at $14,900 a month.

The spectacular hilltop estate, designed by museum architect Brent Saville for Tuchman, draws inspiration from the superellipse with a curved design wrapped in walls of picture windows.

Entered through a glass-lined breezeway, the 5,582 square feet of interiors feature gallery walls, formal living and dining rooms and a lower level with space for a studio or a game/media room. In the kitchen, a post-apocalyptic mural shows the Capitol Records Building eroded by nature and time.

Three bedrooms and four bathrooms include a top-floor master suite complete with a fireplace, walk-in closet and adjoining sitting room. Indonesian Ipe wood decks wrap the exterior to create additional outdoor living space while taking in sweeping city views.

An open-air bridge extends from the main house, crossing over a succulent garden, to a circular office tower. A swimming pool and pool deck complete the approximately quarter-acre setting.

Tuchman was the first full-time curator of modern art at the LACMA, a position he held for three decades. Last year, he donated his personal archive, a collection of papers spanning 50 years, to the Getty Research Institute.

Steven Dubin and Ernie Carswell of Teles Properties hold the listing.
