Labrador dog dies after being found injured at Lanarkshire beauty spot

An injured Labrador dog has died after it was found by a member of the public in Carluke.

The male fox red Labrador was found found on the walkway at Cardies Bridge, off Brownlee Road, Law, on March 30.

The dog was taken to a nearby vet where he sadly passed away from the injuries he had sustained.

Scottish SPCA bosses say they are unsure how long he would have been left outdoors but that his injuries would have caused him a "considerable amount of pain and suffering".

The SSPCA has since launched an appeal for information about the dog's state.

Scottish SPCA inspector, Heather Lawson, said, “We are appealing to the public for any information relating to this incident.

“The fox red Labrador was found at around 9am in the popular walking area of Cardies Bridge, and we are not sure how long he would have been there.

“Due to the extent of his injuries, the dog would sadly have been caused a considerable amount of pain and suffering.

“If anyone saw anything or has any information that could help us determine how this dog came to be injured and abandoned, please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999."
