Labour Party hit by SECOND cyber attack

The Labour Party was hit by a second cyber attack on Tuesday afternoon, according to Reuters.

It comes just hours after the party announced it had repelled a similar attack which happened on Monday.

Reuters quoted sources as saying the second attack happened at 1.20pm on Tuesday, flooding the party's web services with "malicious traffic".

The sources said the attack was ongoing on Tuesday afternoon. It was unclear whether it was the same hackers or a copycat attack.

It came hours after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said of the first attack: "If this is a sign of things to come in this election, I feel very nervous about it all because a cyber attack against a political party in an election is suspicious, something one is very worried about."

The Labour Party did not comment when approached by the Standard.

The Standard has contacted the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) for comment.
