Labour MP does impression of Boris Johnson on national TV: 'Sorry, I just s****** your wife'

A Labour MP's impersonation of Boris Johnson during a live TV debate has been described as "hilarious" by viewers.

Rupa Huq was invited onto Channel 4 News to discuss the former foreign secretary’s Daily Telegraph column in which he wrote that women wearing niqabs resembled “bank robbers” and “letter boxes”.

During a studio debate she castigated Mr Johnson for “not taking stuff seriously” before launching into the impersonation, saying: “Oh sorry, I just s***** your wife, didn't realise...”

Presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy swiftly stepped in to question the language used by the Ealing Central and Acton MP.

She later tweeted: “Meant to say @Channel4News ‘The Boris of old was mildly amusing but the loveable rogue act's worn thin and now he's dangerously pandering to the far right’ but never ended sentence... Thanks @krishgm for stepping in before I tried to throw in some Latin to top it off.”

One of those watching, Christine Simm, tweeted: “I thought your Boris take was brilliant and hilarious.”

But another viewer, Tony Cerff, wrote: “So making fun of Boris is ok, but when he makes fun of comments about something that upsets you that is wrong. Well done for being a hypocrite and making it so obvious.”

The Independent has launched its #FinalSay campaign to demand that voters are given a voice on the final Brexit deal.
