So there you have it. Nothing much seems to have changed in that the audience overwhelmingly backed Jeremy Corbyn - and so did those on social media too. That’s it from our live blog - thanks for reading.

Guardian columnist Owen Jones says Corbyn needs to build a coalition of low and middle-income workers.

Kay Burley’s back. Some of her commentators applaud Yvette Cooper’s passionate attack on Jeremy Corbyn’s money-printing plan at the end of the debate. One describes as a “discursive college lecturer” under pressure.

Times columnist Tim Montgomerie tweets:

And with that the debate is over. How was it for you?

Corbyn argues that we should invest to grow - to rapturous applause from the studio audience.

Cooper asks Corbyn about his plan for a national investment bank. She says he is promising “false hope” by wanting to keep printing money when the economy is growing. “We’ve got to be credible... Your plan is like private finance on steroids.”

Cooper says no one should take this election for granted given that a third of votes are yet to be cast. We have to be honest about the issues we disagree on, she adds.

Change of tack - a question from Corbyn to Kendall: could she work with him if he is elected leader? Her answer isn’t terribly concise; I think it’s a maybe, but she doesn’t agree with most of his economic policies.

Cooper says schools need local accountability; Kendall thinks we need to get away from our obsession with structures in schools and reform the curriculum to get more parity between vocational and academic education. Corbyn thinks faith schools do a good job but that they should teach their students about all faiths.

How important are faith schools to the future of the country is the next question - from a vicar. Burnham says he went to one and his children went to one. He has a pop at Michael Gove for the damage he says he did to the education system.

Corbyn says there has to be a regional political solution to the crisis in the Middle East. Kendall asks him if there are any circumstances under which he would deploy British troops. Corbyn says he’s sure there are some, but he can’t think of any right now.

The Labour adviser tweets:

Now the candidates are debating whether Britain should put boots on the ground in Syria. All of them disagree. Corbyn says bombing would make the situation worse. “There’s no easy palatable answers.”

Corbyn says medicinal cannabis should be decriminalised - and drugs policy more widely. Burnham mentions the problem of legal highs.

Burnham says it would have to be highly regulated and proceed with caution. Cooper says it’s a question no one has asked them thus far - and that it should be considered in the same way as any other drug.

Back with Adam Boulton and a question about social affairs: do you support the decriminalisation of medical cannabis?

We’re back with Sophy Ridge, Sky political correspondent, at the graphics wall. It’s all a bit meaningless telling us what viewers think given that they all want Corbyn to win.

Time for an ad break - and Kay Burley to look forward to after that.

Kendall says the idea that you have different policies for different parts of the country won’t wash. Voters also want a strong leader, she adds.

Question: how to attract SNP and UKIP supporters back to Labour? Cooper says it will take time to rebuild - but it needs to remember that the party is stronger together.

Kendall agrees the party has been too centralised and involve the public more but warns that the Tories want to destroy Labour by various means: “They want to wipe us out - we’ve got to get real and fight back so we can win in 2020.”

Burnham appeals to Labour supporters not to repeat the mistakes of the 1980s. Corbyn says he wants to reverse top-down decision making within the party.

Buzzfeed UK’s deputy editor tweets:

Corbyn is asked if he admires Tony Blair. While he says does acknowledge much of what the former PM achieved, as we know he fundamentally disagrees with Blair’s stance over the Iraq war.

Sky’s political editor tweets:

Two thirds of viewers say that want Corbyn to win the debate, with Burnham a distant second on 14%, followed by Kendall and Cooper.

Surprise! Kendall also says no. She wants real reform of the state and public services. Cooper says Labour should be about standing up for its principles as well as putting them into practice.

Would you be willing to compromise your political principles to get elected? That’s the next question from the studio audience. Predictably, Burnham says no: “I think the Labour party has lost sight of its own principles.”

Bit of a spat between Corbyn and Kendall over Europe. Cooper says the UK should have been arguing for a better deal for Greece.

Updated

Kendall says she’s the strongest pro-European candidate in this campaign. Corbyn wants to tackle tax havens and how Europe has treated the people of Greece by imposing austerity measures on them.

Cooper seems to be dominating the debate thus far, while Corbyn is relatively subdued.

Liz Kendall says it’s appalling that the UK stopped support for search and rescue in the Mediterranean at one point. She adds that we’ve not yet seen a proper political strategy for dealing with situation in Syria.

Next question: will you continue the policies that are leaving people to die in the Mediterranean?

Andy Burnham says we should be taking people from UN-run camps in Turkey - that would send a message that crossing the Mediterranean is not worth the risk.

Liz Kendall says she’s been ashamed of the British government. She says Labour would back any decisions by Cameron: “There’s a willingness out there - do the right thing. Take action now.”

Andy Burnham says he would be going to Brussels, agreeing a plan to deal with the situation and taking control, which David Cameron has failed to do.

Yvette Cooper says people are “deeply troubled” by the images we’ve seen. Communities in the UK need to ask what they can do to help, she says. “We cannot turn our backs on this crisis.”

First question: what would you do about the refugee crisis? Corbyn says Britain taking an extra 4,000 isn’t enough. “We have to hold out the hand of humanity,” he says, adding that a UN response worldwide is also needed.

Bit of a technical hitch to start with - but now we’re off with Adam Boulton.

We can only hope Kay Burley takes off her leather jacket before going inside The Sage...

If you want to participate in the debate from the comfort of your armchair (or wherever you happen to be), log on to Sky News Pulse.

Presented by Adam Boulton, the first half of the 90 minute debate will focus on questions from the audience at The Sage in Gateshead. Much of the questioning in the second half will come from Sky News viewers.

Summary

Welcome to our live blog on the second Labour leadership debate, taking place in Gateshead. This is the last chance for the four candidates to convince voters how to cast their ballot.
