Labour leader Ed Miliband’s lack of red ties

Am I the only person to be profoundly depressed by Ed Miliband’s inability to wear a red tie on big occasions, for example when responding to the budget, and when being interviewed by Jeremy Paxman? In the latter situation David Cameron was happily sporting a blue tie, while even the one-nation Tory Paxman wore scarlet. If I thought that this was a result of Miliband’s exquisite dress sense I would be less offended, but we all know some semiotician wonk at Labour HQ has insisted, lest the voting public be scared away or the Tory press remark on it. I can only hope that his ties in 50 shades of grey aren’t a signal of his proclivities.
