Labour leader Alan Kelly has said Sinn Fein won’t take the reigns of the opposition party on their own.
And he attacked Fianna Fail, remarking it’s “incredible” that they’re back in charge of housing.
He said: “There is no one leader of the opposition.
“The actual title doesn’t exist, there are multiple leaders of multiple parties and indeed Independents who will oppose the government and hold them to account.
“We will stand on our own policies, we will oppose the government where we believe we need to and will support measures that we believe are worthy of it.

“Where we disagree with other parties or Independents who are in opposition benches we will say so as well.
“We are not going to agree with another party for the sake of agreement to oppose a government.
“That’s not what politics is all about. The Labour Party does not do populism.”
Mr Kelly said the new Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has made huge promises while in opposition as Fianna Fail’s health spokesperson.
He told RTE’s This Week in Politics: “It’s incredible that 10 years after the crash that the Fianna Fail party are back in charge of housing and planning.
“The fact that in opposition Stephen Donnelly has made huge promises in health and now he’s Minister for Health.
“A thousand consultants, 2,600 more beds, 4,000 nursing staff, €5 million for home help hours - so these have to be honoured now.
“I look forward to seeing them being implemented.
“Certainly Fianna Fail have two of the big ministries and track records are important so we will be holding them to account.”
