Labour's official inquiry into its worst electoral defeat for 80 years has exonerated leader Jeremy Corbyn.
A report was circulated yesterday at a meeting of Labour’s ruling national executive committee.
The document, written by party chairman Ian Lavery and shadow communities secretary Andrew Gwynne, said it would be “unrealistic” not to blame the result on Brexit.
"It considered the role of Mr Corbyn’s leadership and manifesto in the defeat, but said: “It is unlikely that radicalism per se was the problem in a country looking for change.”
The report says Mr Corbyn was the victim of a character assault “without precedent in modern politics,” according to the Financial Times.
