Labour Councillors on Dublin City Council have written to the Lord Mayor requesting him to convene a meeting of the Council, in order to receive a report about possible criminal payments by Dublin City Council.
It comes after recent issues have been raised in the recent court proceedings and newspaper reports about possible criminal payments by Dublin City Council.
The council is caught up in a huge political furore over allegations it advised builders constructing council houses to pay protection money to the head of a drugs gang.
Speaking on behalf of the Labour Councillors, Councillor Joe Costello urged management to act quickly.
He said: “The 63 Councillors on Dublin City Council are the Board of Management of the City Council and it behoves us to hold the City Management responsible for their actions and to account for their stewardship.
"In a serious matter of this nature we should act without delay."
