Jeremy Corbyn will not be forced into backing Remain in a second referendum after a vote looking to dictate his Brexit position failed.
The "Composite 13" motion tried to make Labour, if it won an election, back staying in the EU regardless of any Brexit deal it secured.
However, in a rowdy floor vote at the Labour conference in Brighton on Monday evening, the move was rejected.
And despite cries for a paper vote after it was decided on a show of hands, debate chair Wendy Nichols insisted the decision would stand.
