Labor Day 2019: The Best Deals on Robot Vacuums

This story was written in collaboration with Forbes Finds. Forbes Finds covers products we think you’ll love. Featured products are independently selected and linked to for your convenience. If you buy something using a link on this page, Forbes may receive a small share of that sale.

When was the last time you vacuumed? Like, really vacuumed each corner of the house and under the edges of the kitchen cabinets. If you are like me, it was the same time you dusted—the fifth of never. So maybe I need to take advantage of one of these robot vacuum deals.

If you’ve never heard of a robot vacuum, like the Roomba, the most popular brand, then you’ve been living in a clean room (or a coma). These vacuums totter around the house to suck up dust, dirt and debris so you don’t have to. They are connected to your phone through apps, and after you map out the house, either zig-zag around randomly or follow predetermined routes. Some automatically return to their base when full of dirt or low on battery. Others don’t.

If you have mostly smooth floors, you need a robot vacuum in your house. Some even handle regular carpet fairly well, though I wouldn’t drop them onto your ’70s-style shag rug.

Here are some of the best robot vacuum deals on Amazon right now:

iRobot Roomba 690

The iRobot Roomba s9+ and i7+ are the top of the line models for Roomba right now, which means all the previous models are on sale. When it comes to features, the only major things missing are automatic dirt disposal and cleaning and scheduling by room. But really, you just want a floor-cleaning robot that bounces around and picks up after your messy self. The iRobot Roomba 690 does that for $499, which is $200 off the regular price. It’s power-lifting suction system removes all that pet and hair dander that you can’t even see but makes you sneeze regardless.

iRobot Roomba 890

All of these robot vacuums are heavily discounted because it’s almost winter. Time to break out the cleaning supplies since you are going to be trapped in the house until spring. The iRobot Roomba 890 is on sale at $399, or $100 off the regular price. The main difference between the iRobot Roomba 890 and the 690 is the advanced dirt detect feature of the former. Working with its smart navigation feature, the 890’s dirt detect feature finds all those dust bunnies hiding in hard to reach places, like under the couch and bed.

iRobot Roomba 960

The iRobot Roomba 960 adds a couple more interesting features to its automated vacuuming skill set. First, it will automatically recharge itself and resume cleaning. That’s a handy feature for a robot, any robot really. The second is that it comes with visual navigation and mapping, so that you can watch its progress through the app and allow it to map out your home. Sure, this data is probably sent to some mysterious entity that ties it in with your Alexa data to know everything about you, but at least you have clean floors. This Labor Day, it’s going for $499, giving you a savings of $200.

Shark Ion Robot Vacuum R75

The Shark Ion Robot Vacuum is a solid robovac alternative in case you aren’t brand loyal. The Shark Ion Robot Vacuum R75 connects to Alexa and cleans, docks and recharges automatically. It has smart sensor navigation to adapt to obstacles and keep rolling around until every bit of dirt is collected, or until it needs to recharge. Your cat will love this robot vacuum. For Labor Day, it’s $130 off at Amazon.

Shark ION Robot Vacuum RV720

The Shark ION Robot Vacuum RV720 is a few dollars less than the R75, even after 31% off. There is a reason for the disparity in price. Instead of a connected app, it comes with a remote control. It still has the same overall feature set of the R75, but you have the added pleasure of following it around the house with the remote (not necessary, but you know you want to). The Shark ION Robot Vacuum RV720 is the robot vacuum you buy if you want all the robot vacuuming but without the smart home connectivity.

Neato Robotics D7 Connected Laser Guided Smart Robot Vacuum

The Neato Robotics D7 Connected Laser Guided Smart Robot Vacuum is the boss of robot vacuum cleaners. It’s currently $648, or $182 off the list price. That’s a heck of a deal for this robot vacuum that does it all. Neato Robotics D7 has squared corners on one end, so it can get into those 90-degree angles that a normal round robot vacuum can’t reach. It uses laser-guided mapping to navigate your home, cleaning in straight lines while avoiding furniture. It has a larger brush than most robot vacuums, for grabbing larger chunks of pet hair. It connects to your smart home device and allows for multiple floor-plan mapping. This is the beast of robot vacuum cleaners.
