KOTTAYAM: Former opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala sought the dismissal of the Lok Ayukta which he said has lost its power through the ordinance.
Speaking to reporters in Alappuzha on Monday, Chennithala said that there was no point in spending crores of rupees for the Lok Ayukta system. When the governor signed the ordinance, the last resort in the fight against corruption has come to an end.
He also alleged that the Governor swallowed whatever he had earlier said for the posting of a BJP person as his personal staff. This was not expected from the governor who was regarded as one of the best parliamentarians. "Bringing such an ordinance when a case against the CM is under the consideration of the Lok Ayukta is unethical and amounts to misuse of power. Pinarayi has proven that he is a dictator. The government is not able to convince the constituents of LDF on the ordinance," he added.
The souls of Nayanar and E Chandrasekharan Nair will not pardon Pinarayi for what he had done, said Chennithala. He urged the CPM national leadership to speak up on the issue. The opposition won't allow what is going on in the governor-CM deal and will continue the fight against this, he added.
Full support will be given to CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran who took a stand that there is no need for bringing an ordinance in such a hasty manner, said Chennithala. Congress has got the legal opinion that the President's approval is required for the ordinance to come into force, he said.
