La Mer turns blue

Through its Blue Heart initiative, La Mer has been listening to the ocean and raised awareness of pressing environmental issues.

Limited-Edition Blue Heart Crème De La Mer.

The ocean is important to La Mer's skincare products. Today over 90% of marine plants, including sea kelp, are responsibly sourced to make its iconic Crème de la Mer.

The key ingredient is crafted from sustainably-harvested giant sea kelp, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Taking three to four months, the fermentation process involves exposing the blend to light and sound waves in order to attain the Miracle Broth.

Each new generation of the Miracle Broth is infused with drops of the previous one, creating a link to the original.

Limited-Edition Blue Heart Crème De La Mer features a colourful rather than the normal white jar to commemorate World Ocean Day, which falls on June 8 each year.

Currently the American brand gives back to the sea through its La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund, launched in 2017, to support marine conservation efforts around the world.

For instance, EarthEcho's OceanEcho 30X30 aims to build a global youth movement to protect 30% of our ocean by 2030.

GreenWave scales a regenerative ocean farming model across North America by partnering with fishermen, indigenous groups and other under-resourced coastal communities directly affected by climate change.
