La Liga toppers Barcelona extend lead with 3-0 win over Osasuna

Barcelona secured a commanding 3-0 victory against Osasuna in the Spanish league, which gave them a three-point advantage over Real Madrid and extended their lead to seven points against Atletico Madrid, with 10 matches left in the season.

Early strikes from Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo put Barca in command, with Robert Lewandowski coming off the bench to score off a header from Fermin Lopez.

Manager Hansi Flick opted to keep Lewandowski out of the starting XI, introducing him late in the match. The Polish striker's goal took his league tally to 23, maintaining his position as the competition's top scorer.

Barcelona maintained their impressive form with this victory, stretching their unbeaten sequence to 19 consecutive matches across all competitions in 2025.

The fixture was initially set for March 8 but was rescheduled following the unfortunate passing of a Barcelona first-team doctor shortly before the original kick-off time.

Torres finished a well-coordinated passing sequence in the 11th minute by converting a low cross delivered by Alejandro Balde. De Jong set up Balde with a precise pass, enabling the left-back to assist Torres, who scored his 14th goal of the campaign across all competitions.

Later in the first half, Torres nearly added another goal when his free-kick struck the crossbar.

Olmo extended the advantage by successfully converting a penalty retake in the 21st minute, which he had initially won after being brought down by goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

Although Herrera blocked the first attempt, Olmo was granted another chance when Osasuna's Jon Moncayola entered the penalty area prematurely.

Shortly afterwards, Olmo was substituted due to what appeared to be a leg injury.

Croatian international and Osasuna's leading goalscorer Ante Budimir was introduced for the final 30 minutes but failed to make any significant impact in attack.
