LA Chargers owner Dean Spanos rules out London move

LA Chargers owner Dean Spanos has denied claims the NFL franchise could move to London.

After another successful series in the capital this season, speculation has grown about the possibility of a permanent London NFL franchise.

Reports this week suggested the Chargers, who switched to LA from San Diego in 2017, would be open to relocating to London if approached by the NFL.

But Spanos said: “We are not going to London. We are not going anywhere. There have been no discussions of any kind between the NFL and the Chargers regarding moving to London. The Chargers are focused on the success of the team in Los Angeles.”

The Chargers have failed to gather support in LA and that has led to suggestions they could move to Tottenham’s new stadium.

However, Spanos added: “No consideration has been given to the Chargers playing anywhere other than at the new stadium in Hollywood Park next season and beyond.”
