L.J. Collier could miss Seahawks preseason with ankle injury

The Seattle Seahawks took a blow Tuesday morning when defensive end Collier went down on the field during drills. He was carted off to the locker room with an apparent ankle injury.

Seattle selected Collier in the first round of April’s draft.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted shortly after the incident Collier is believed to be suffering from a high-ankle sprain and could likely miss the preseason.

The Seahawks did not provide an update to Collier’s status following practice but offensive lineman Duane Brown shared his thoughts on what it’s like to see a teammate go down.

“It’s tough, especially in training camp you have a young player you want to see them be as healthy as possible going into the season,” Brown told reporters. “I’m hoping it’s nothing serious. Training camp is tough, very physical, a lot of people getting used to just the tempo and grind of training camp. The everyday, putting your body through that, so it happens. You try to do as best you can to try to recover from whatever and stay out there, but like I said I’m just hoping he’s alright.”

The Seahawks have an off day on Wednesday and no further updates from the team on Collier’s injury are expected until Thursday morning.
