L.J. Collier leaves field on cart with ankle injury

Toward the end of training camp today, the Seattle Seahawks dealt with some unfortunate news as rookie defensive end L.J. Collier was carted away from the field with an apparent ankle injury.

Collier was down for a while before walking off the field on his own power. He was tended to on the sideline by a trainer before he was carted inside by the training staff.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that it is an ankle injury for the former TCU star.

Collier was Seattle’s first-round pick this year, and he is expected to be one of the team’s primary pass rushers this season.

A long-term injury to Collier would be another big blow to the Seahawks pass rush after the team already lost Jarran Reed for the first six games of the season to a suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

There was not an immediate injury report available after training camp. The Seahawks have an off day Wednesday, so clarity on his injury status may not be available until Thursday.
