Kyshoen Jarrett looking forward to serving as a mentor for young Redskins players

Kyshoen Jarrett is one of the best running stories surrounding the Washington Redskins.

Tuesday, the Redskins announced Jarrett was jumping from intern to a full-time gig with the Redskins coaches as a defensive quality control coach.

The next day, Jarrett detailed what he hopes to accomplish, besides general career progression under big names like Ray Horton.

“I feel like I’m an outlet based on what I had to go through during that time to then overcome to be in this position today,” Jarrett said, according to Redskins.com. “I believe I’m a living testament to that.”

Indeed, Jarrett was a sixth-round pick who fought hard to get on the field, then suffered an injury that ended his career during the final game of his rookie season.

Given his leadership and versatility on the field, as well as the giant layers of adversity he’s overcome so far, Jarrett shouldn’t have any problems taking on a bigger role in many facets, including as a mentor.
