Kyril Louis-Dreyfus sends classy messages to Grant Leadbitter as tributes pour in for midfielder following release

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has thanked the departing Grant Leadbitter for his services.

The 35-year-old Sunderland academy graduate will leave the club for a second time when his contract expires at the end of June.

Leadbitter posted an emotional message on his Instagram page thanking fans for their support during his time at the club, as well as apologising that he couldn't lead the Black Cats to promotion.

It was on the midfielder's Instagram post that the Sunderland owner left his message of thanks. Louis-Dreyfus said: "Thank you for everything and all the best."

Non-executive director David Jones also thanked Leadbitter and wished him well: “Good luck @gleadbitter23 and thank you”.

They weren't alone in thanking the departing midfielder.

A host of current and former players also wished him well, including the likes of Dean Whitehead, Lynden Gooch, Aiden O'Brien, Bali Mumba and David Meyler.

Leadbitter is one of seven players set to be released by the club following the expiration of their contract next month.
