Kyrie Irving won’t be fined for criticizing officials after Game 3

Per the Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn, Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving won’t be fined for his comments criticizing the officiating following the Celtics’ loss to Bucks in Game 3. In his postgame presser, Irving was nothing short of perturbed by the amount of fouls called in favor of Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo has shot 40 free-throws over the past two games of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Irving isn’t typically publicly critical of officiating and that may have played a part in the decision for why he wasn’t fined.

However, Irving also showed empathy and understanding in his postgame presser. Per NBA.com, Irving told reporters “The refs have a difficult job. We have a difficult job. I can sit up here and complain. We know the disparity and what it is. I’m not going to put all the emphasis on the refereeing.”
