Kyrie Irving ‘serious’ about signing with Nets as they clear more cap space

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving is “serious” about signing with the Brooklyn Nets. Meanwhile, the Nets — who have been linked to Irving since March — have made a stunning but forward-thinking transaction that will allow them to clear an $18 million in cap space.

The trade will give Brooklyn the option of signing two max contract free agents, or re-signing guard D’Angelo Russell after adding Irving. Per Wojnarowski, the Nets will send shooting guard Allen Crabbe and two first-round picks to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for swingman Taurean Prince and a future second-round pick.

There’s plenty of time for Irving to change his mind, if it’s indeed already been made. However, Irving’s playing future appears to have been decided.
