Kyrie Irving right knee sprain isn’t serious; listed day-to-day

Kyrie Irving, who left Friday night’s game versus the Los Angeles Clippers suffered a strained right knee, and will be listed as day-to-day. The team announced this afternoon.

Earlier Sunday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN said in a report, that Irving’s knee injury is not considered to be serious.

This is good news for the Celtics considering they blew a 28-point lead at home against the Clippers on Friday night after Irving went down with his knee injury. This was the best case scenario for Irving and the team, as he has has a relatively lengthy history of knee injuries.

Irving only played 14:17 minutes in Friday night’s loss, but had 14 points, two assists and one rebound before leaving early due to the injury.

For the season, Irving is averaging 23.6 points, 6.9 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. He’s shooting 49.8 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from three in his second season with the team.
