Kyrie Irving reaches assist milestone in Celtics loss to Spurs

Despite a crushing 115-96 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night, Kyrie Irving continues to fill up the stat sheet.

With his line of 11 points and 12 assists on Sunday, Irving now has 18 games this season with 10-plus assists. That’s the most games of 10 or more assists in a single season by a Celtic since Rajon Rondo had 27 such games in the 2012-13 season, according to @Celtics_Stats on Twitter.

This has been a good weekend, statistically, for Irving who had a five-game 30+ point streak snapped on Sunday. He decided to share the wealth against San Antonio.

Nonetheless, the Celtics have now lost four games in a row and it’s looking more and more likely that they will have the five seed in the NBA Playoffs, and won’t have home court advantage in round one.

They are now two games behind the fourth place Indiana Pacers, who won on Sunday. Boston travels to Cleveland for a matchup with the Cavaliers on Tuesday. They host Indiana on Friday.
