Kyrie Irving on Celtics’ loss to the Bulls: ‘It’s behind me’

Following a 126-116 loss to the Chicago Bulls that could have easily turned into another drama-filled postgame, Kyrie Irving was as tame as ever. Him scoring 37 points on 14 of 24 shooting (3 for 6 from three) probably didn’t hurt. Either way, he told reporters in Chicago this loss is already in his rearview mirror.

It’s behind me.

He followed that up by saying, “It’s the NBA,” and that the focus is on getting to the playoffs, “where the fun begins.”

When asked if there’s concern that Boston’s struggles will leak into the playoffs, Irving doubled down.

Nah. Nah, we’ll be fine.

Why?

Because I’m here.

No finger pointing. No drama. Taking ownership that he will do what needs to be done in order for the Celtics to thrive in the postseason. This is just one night, but losses like Saturday’s have led to controversies for Boston this season, especially when they’ve lost the game prior. Irving treating it like any other game could be a sign the Celtics have taken a step forward, even though losing to the Bulls is inexcusable.
