Kyrie Irving Notches Historic Triple Double in Dazzling Drew League Debut

Basketball fans annually look forward to the Drew League after the conclusion of the NBA Summer League. In its 50th season of action from Los Angeles, the event draws top NBA talent to the hardwood to display their talents in a world-class showcase.

On Saturday, Mavericks star Kyrie Irving enjoyed an impressive Drew League debut, posting a triple-double. The flashy point guard, aptly nicknamed “Uncle Drew,” scored 20 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 11 assists while helping lead Nationwide Souljas’s to an 84–73 victory over Cal Supreme.

Just how impressive was the effort?

The triple-double was the first one ever recorded in the pro-am event’s history.

Last month, Irving agreed to a three-year, $126 million contract to return to Dallas after averaging 27.1 points, 5.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 60 games with the Nets and Mavericks last season. Paired with four-time All-Star Luka Dončić, Mavericks fans hope the 31-year old talent can fill up the stat sheet next year in the same way he did on Saturday.
