Kyrie Irving expected to meet with Celtics to discuss future

While it has looked for the last few days like the Boston Celtics and Kyrie Irving were headed towards a breakup, the two sides are expected to clear the air before the start of free agency on June 30.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, a meeting between Irving and the Celtics could come as early as before this Thursday’s NBA Draft.

Irving has reportedly been eyeing the Brooklyn Nets for sometime and that notion was only strengthened amid reports from last week that Irving had signed with Jay-Z’s ROC Nation Sports.

Although the Los Angeles Lakers have a need at point guard, the timing of the trade with the Pelicans significant lowers their ability to give maximum money to a free agent of Irving’s caliber. So while a team of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Irving would be the NBA’s title favorites, it doesn’t look like the Lakers will be able to make it happen.
