Kyrie Irving, Al Horford ruled out for matchup vs. Nets

Prior to Saturday’s matchup with the Brooklyn Nets, the Boston Celtics announced both Kyrie Irving and Al Horford will not play. Irving will sit out as a result of low back soreness and Horford is due to left knee soreness, according to the team.

With there only being six games left in the Celtics’ regular season and Stevens stating previously Horford will sit out some games, this could be a load management situation, especially with Saturday’s game being the second of a back-to-back. That could also be the case with Irving, who stated he would take some games off, as well.

Additionally, Jayson Tatum has been ruled questionable for Saturday due to illness. This would be only the third game Tatum has missed all season.

Irving led the Celtics with 30 points and five assists in Friday’s 114-112 win over the Indiana Pacers, while Horford finished second with 19 and had seven rebounds.
