Kyogo snub causes outrage as Celtic star backed by raging Japan hero after World Cup mishap

Under pressure Hajime Moriyasu has been slaughtered for benching Kyogo Furuhashi during a vital World Cup qualifier.

The Celtic star man was handed a watching brief for Japan against Saudi Arabia for the first 60 minutes and his introduction in the final stages couldn't halt a 1-0 defeat.

He came on as a winger and could do nothing as Saudi inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Japan - their second in three qualifying games.

They are now outside the automatic qualification places for the World Cup and Japanese star Masakiyo Maezono reckons their manager is wasting Furuhashi.

He said: "Why did we not start Kyogo Furuhashi? He's fit enough to start for Celtic so he should be fit enough for us.

"It was bad enough not playing him, but then when he did come on, he was stuck on the left wing and was unable to have any influence on the game.

"His manager at Celtic, Ange Postecoglou, has got the best out of him by playing him as a striker and he has scored a lot of goals.

"It makes no sense to not play him in a position where he scores goals.

"The manager needs to start using players in their correct position or else we have no chance of qualifying for the World Cup."
