Kyogo ordered more shooting practice for Celtic despite Ange Postecglou’s side firing nine goals past Dundee United as they stormed back to the top of the Premiership table.
The Japanese international helped himself to a hat-trick in a record breaking rout and insisted the scoreline should have been double figures. As Celtic reclaimed pole position at the league summit by a two point margin, Kyogo admitted he was far from satisfied with the goal return against a beleaguered Tannadice side after the visitors had 30 shots at United keeper Carljohan Eriksson.
And despite the Hoops notching the biggest away win in SPFL history, he said: “We certainly had more opportunities, but we need to improve our finishing quality although we have the confidence from scoring nine goals in this game. I am happy with the hat-trick and I am happy with the team and the victory as we scored a lot of goals.
“It is the result of our football and what we have been working on. We are happy with the result, but we still have a lot of things to do.”
Kyogo took his own scoring tally for the season to six goals and he revealed he’s set himself scoring targets for this campaign which include landmarks he intends to hit on the way down the line. He said: First of all, my teammates always provide me with good passes. The first aim would be 20 goals and then I would like to reach 30 and more.”
Last week’s Champions League draw has Spanish superstars Real Madrid coming to Glasgow next midweek and Kyogo believes being drawn with one of the game’s royalty has given everyone at his club a lift. He said: “The Real Madrid fixture motivates us, but we have to keep playing well in each game. We will try our best to play a good game against Real Madrid.”
Celtic will now get ready for a Premier Cup tie against Ross County in Dingwall on Wednesday night and striker Giorgios Giakoumakis should be fit after missing the trip to Tannadice through illness but the Greek striker did train at Lennoxtown yesterday. There was also a clean bill of health for keeper Joe Hart who required lengthy treatment for a head wound yesterday after a collision with Steven Fletcher.
