Kyogo in Celtic rallying cry as striker refuses to look at Scottish Cup Final in teammate 'focus' demand

Celtic ace Kyogo insists the Hoops will need to get back to their blistering best in time for the Scottish Cup Final.

The Parkhead poacher notched his 31st goal of the season at the weekend as the champions twice came from behind to salvage a point against superb St Mirren. Celts boss Ange Postecoglou admitted his men have gone off the boil in recent clashes with Rangers and the Buddies in the wake of crossing the Premiership finishing line.

The Aussie has warned he wants a grandstand finale in the final two games before the Hampden clash with Inverness Caley Thistle on June 3. And Kyogo admitted the Hoops will need to be firing if they want to land a historic Treble. The PFA player of the year said: “I am not thinking about the Scottish Cup Final yet. We have two games to go and we want to win these matches.

“It will be important to be at our best in the Final because it is another big game with a trophy. But the most important thing is to focus on these games because we want to build some momentum before then. Continuity is very important for us.”

Kyogo was thrilled to bag another goal but disappointed Celtic were held by the Buddies. Curtis Main terrorised the Hoops backline by the striker and skipper Callum McGregor prevented Postecoglou losing his domestic unbeaten home record.

Kyogo admitted the champs didn’t hit their usual heights but would be busting a gut in training to make sure they can finish the season with a flourish against Hibs at Easter Road on Wednesday and then Aberdeen on trophy day at Parkhead at the weekend.

The Japanese star said: “It was a difficult game but eventually we managed to get back level. Obviously I was disappointed not to win the match.

“We’ll work hard on things in training and try to make sure we win our next match. We try to set our standards as high as possible and if you can reach that level in every game, that is very good. It is not always possible but you have to make that the target.”
