Kyogo Furuhashi vows to repay Celtic love by shooting Hoops to title glory again

Kyogo Furuhashi has vowed to repay the love he has received at Celtic by scoring more goals to shoot them to another title after signing his new deal.

Last season's Player of the Year signed a new four year deal with the champions last month after reported interest from his former boss Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.

He netted scored 34 goals in 50 games last season and, in an interview in a Japanese magazine, he explained why he decided to stay in Glasgow.

He said: "The good thing about Celtic is that the people are really warm. They accept us, Japanese people from a foreign country.

"Even if you are driving, you will be greeted with a horn from another car.

"There was a time in a cafe when the guy who was supposed to be working stopped serving a customer so he could get a picture with me!

"It makes me happy when I get approached and if the people who approach me smile and it makes them happy, then it makes me even happier.

"The stadiums are all frenetic. Everyone from children to the elderly will support you with a tremendous amount of passion.

“I am grateful that the club needed me enough to sign a new contract. I'm glad that my hard work was appreciated.

"But I couldn't have done it alone, so I can only thank the people around me who really supported me.

"Now, we will try and win the title again and I want to help by scoring as many goals as possible.

"In order to do that, I have to focus more strictly on myself because I can only repay the club and the people around me through football.”

But Furuhashi was less forthcoming when he was directly asked if he ever considered leaving the club amid the reported interest.

He said: "I can't go into too much detail. I'm sorry."
