Celtic legend Ramon Vega has claimed that Hoops striker Kyogo Furuhashi is good enough to play for ANY team in the Premier League, amid links away from the club.
The Japanese striker won the Scottish Premiership Player of the Year, alongside Celtic's in-house award - with his 34 goals in 50 games helping Celtic march on to a domestic treble; their eighth in total, which took them past Rangers' seven and the world total as a result. But success breeds interest; Kyogo has already been linked with a move away from Parkhead, with Crystal Palace being credited with an interest previously.
However, Vega believes that Kyogo should aim higher than Roy Hodgson's Eagles, and whilst the obvious links to Tottenham are there amid Ange Postecoglou's departure to north London, the Celtic hero believes that Kyogo would fit into ANY Premier League side and dodge any doubts over his physicality due to his 'quality footballing brain'.
“I believe Kyogo could fit into ANY team in the Premier League because he is such a good player," Vega told SafeBettingSites.com.
“Some people have talked about his physique and that he wouldn’t cope with powerful defenders but I don’t buy into that. He has such quality and speed and a brilliant football brain. He suddenly comes from nowhere to score a goal and his finishing is so deadly.
“He is such a fantastic penalty box striker and every team in the Premier League would love a player like him. Kyogo reminds me of Henrik Larsson when I played with him in the 2001 Treble team. Henrik could do other things, but he was also so deadly when chances came to him and he would fool defenders with clever positioning and runs.
“I know the Celtic fans will go crazy if the board decides to sell him and I can understand why because he has been fantastic for them. He has been even better in his second season and he feels loved at Celtic. There is a big connection – but, of course, he could have that with Ange Postecoglou."
Whilst Vega is a big fan of the Japan star, he believes that Celtic obviously must keep him - although he understands that the striker may have to be sold in order to keep Celtic going as a business.
“In football terms, you would say that Celtic need to keep him if they want to anything in the Champions League groups and maybe even go further in the competition.
“However, then you have the business side. If Celtic sell Kyogo for £20m-£30m then it makes perfect sense because then you have the same amount coming from qualification and that would be massive income.
“But as I said, the fans would be in uproar. It’s bad enough losing the manager and now the best player is going. How do you replace him?”
