Kyogo reacts to Brendan Rodgers at Celtic as star striker makes vow after epic season

Kyogo Furuhashi insists he hasn't stopped to consider his future under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic and is just eyeing holiday.

And Hoops teammate Daizen Maeda admits he's just hoping to keep his place in the team under the returning former Leicester City boss. Rodgers will be unveiled tomorrow after returning to replace Ange Postecoglou, who quit Parkhead after winning the treble to join Spurs. The pair helped Japan to a 4-1 win over Peru in a friendly, with Maeda scoring and will now get a well-earned break.

And both were asked to comment on the managerial situation at their club after the game with Furuhashi linked with a big-money move south to join up with his old boss at Tottenham Hotspur. He said: "My ambition this season was to win all three trophies and win the Player of the Year and I have managed that. I was able to do that because I had a lot of support from my teammates.

"But right now, I want to have a long rest and think about things after that. I am delighted I was able to end a great season for me on a high."

And Maeda added: "I don’t know where my position will be with the change of manager at Celtic. But my priority is to perform well in every game so I can still be in the team. I know I still have a long way to go to develop as a player on the left side of attack. But I feel I am improving and I want to keep doing things my way."

Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate also played in the win over the South American nation.
